National parks in Lapland

National parks are the gems of Finnish nature and constitute the foundation of the protected areas network. They are refreshing oases that are open to all.

All outdoor lovers will find something to suit their taste in the national parks! In the largest, wilderness-like parks you can hike for a week without seeing a road. In the same park you may also have the opportunity to go on a day trip along a well-marked trail.

Seven of the 35 national parks in Finland are located in Lapland. Of these, the Lemmenjoki National Park, Urho Kekkonen National Park and Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park are the largest in Finland. The other national parks in Lapland are Pyhä-Luosto, Perämeri, and Riisitunturi and Oulanka, located in north-eastern Finland on the border between the Koillismaa region and Lapland.
