Cross-country skiing

Spring in Lapland is the most popular time for skiing. The cross-country skiing trail networks are in excellent condition and ready to enhance mind and body. This diverse sport refreshes the mind and does your heart, blood circulation and muscles a lot of good.

Glistening Snowscapes
Although the skiing season in Lapland officially ends with the Midsummer Ski in Kilpisjärvi, the cross-country skiing trails are in their best skiing condition in the springtime. You will enjoy guaranteed snow beautifully decorated with plenty of sunshine, guaranteed pure luxury! The most expansive and diverse routes are found in connection with national parks and holiday resorts, the longest of which cover nearly 300 kilometres. A wide variety of routes of different levels of difficulty can be found from the fells and forests and all the cross-country skiing trails are well maintained.

Best equipment you could ever hope for
If you haven’t got your own skiing equipment, don’t worry; the well equipped equipment hire services can be found from every holiday resort. The local activity companies also arrange guided cross-country skiing trips for skiers of all levels. You can depart on a long skiing trek lasting a number of days, stay overnight in cabins and even eat around the campfire under the lean-to shelter. Or you can take a skiing trip lasting only a few hours and take a lovely break with hot drinks at the ski trail cafés.
